About YBVUK
YouthBuild Ventures UK (YBVUK) partners with young people who are furthest from opportunity, working alongside them to build the skills, confidence and belief needed to shape their own futures. Guided by love, respect and high expectations, we create safe, supportive and challenging environments where young people are recognised for their strengths and potential.
We are part of the global YouthBuild movement, an international network with decades of experience supporting young people into education, employment and leadership. While grounded in this global model, our work is shaped by the needs of young people and communities in the UK and delivered in close partnership with employers, local authorities, housing providers and community organisations.
Our approach is trauma-informed, relational and rooted in community. We combine vocational training, employability, leadership development, wellbeing support and hands-on community action to create meaningful pathways into work and long-term opportunity. Young people are partners in their own development and leaders in the change they want to see.
At YBVUK, we don’t just prepare young people for work, we walk alongside them as they build confidence, purpose and futures grounded in dignity, belonging and possibility.
The Role
The Construction Lead is responsible for leading all construction and technical elements of YouthBuild programmes, ensuring training is high-quality, sector-relevant and delivered in line with YBVUK values, quality frameworks and programme design.
The role ensures young people gain practical skills, confidence and recognised qualifications that prepare them for real construction environments and progression into employment, apprenticeships or further training. Working closely with programme delivery teams and employer partners, the Construction Lead ensures construction delivery reflects current site practice, employer expectations and labour market needs.
The postholder leads construction delivery across YouthBuild programmes, including YouthBuild’s flagship YB100 programme, and is accountable for the quality, safety and outcomes of technical training. This includes hands-on delivery of construction training, alongside oversight of accredited provision, assessment and learner evidence, health & safety compliance, curriculum development and continuous improvement.
Reporting to the Head of Youth Development, the Construction Lead works closely with the Youth Development Lead and Employer Partnerships & Progressions Lead to ensure construction training is well sequenced within programmes, aligned with employability delivery, and supports strong progression outcomes for young people.
A key part of the role is keeping construction delivery current, innovative and future-focused. The Construction Lead connects with YouthBuild’s global network of construction tutors and technical leads, gathering shared learning, best practice and new ways of working to enhance delivery in the UK. The role also explores and pilots innovative approaches to construction training, including green skills, retrofit, sustainability and emerging trades, where relevant to employer demand and progression pathways.

- Uphold safeguarding policies and procedures, escalating concerns appropriately and working closely with programme leads.
Programme Integration & Progression Support
- Work closely with the Youth Development Lead to align construction training with programme schedules, learner readiness and youth development activity.
- Use hands-on delivery time to assess learner strengths, progress and readiness for work.
- Support the Employer Partnerships & Progressions Lead by ensuring young people are technically prepared for employer engagement, site visits and progression opportunities.
- Contribute trade and sector insight to progression planning and employer engagement activity.
- Support delivery of community builds, live projects and employer-linked activity where appropriate.
